Interactive travellers need good sources of information to experience what a destination has to offer.  The TMPIAP was fortunate to be able to assist Gerald McCormack of the Natural Heritage project and Judith Kunzle to publish a range of materials including:

  1. Bullet“Rarotonga’s Mountain Tracks and Plants” field guide;

  2. Bullet“Birds of the Cook Islands” poster;

  3. Bullet“Rarotonga’s Cross Island Walk” booklet;

  4. Bullet“Cook Islands Lagoon and Reef Fishes” waterproof identification card which could be used while swimming; and

  5. Bullet“Reef Life” poster.

The Programme also fundied a number of initiatives designed to promote awareness of tourism amongst resident Cook Islanders including the very successful “Kia Orana” television programme prepared by Rairi Rairi of Tourism Cook islands.  The 15 minute programmes ona range of themes were broadcast on Rarotonga and diostribution on tape cassette to the other islands in the Southern and Northern Groups.
